Eric Liddell was an international rugby player from Scotland. Along with rugby he also ran track and traveled as a missionary. When ever the opportunity to compete in the 1942 Olympic games came he was forced to choose between his religion and the Olympics. He chose the Olympics and went on to win the gold medal in the 400 Meter. He died on February 21, 1945 at the age of 43.
