Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, more commonly known as L. Ron Hubbard was an author and, most notably, the founder of the Church of Scientology. After he began his career as a science fiction author he began to use his stories to develop self help rituals and doctrines. He then took his ideals and formed them into a religious movement known as Scientology. Scientology is still practiced around the world. He died On January 24, 1986 at the age of 74.
