Anton LaVey was an occultist from Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 16 he quit high school and began travelling with the circus. After his stint with the carnival he pursued paranormal research, which was the portal that brought him into satanism. He developed his beliefs into a new religion and quickly gained followers. He died in 1997 of heart complications.
