St. Catherine of Siena was a philosopher and theologian from the 1300′s. When she was born the black death was tearing Europe apart and lost many siblings to the sickness. When she was 30 years old she completed her major treatise, The Dialogue of Divine Providence. In 1970, hundreds of years after her death, she was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Paul VI.
