Harvey Milk was a politician from New York City. He is most known for being the first openly gay person elected into public office. He was elected onto the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1978. He is considered the most famous and most significant open LGBT official ever elected. He died on November 27, 1978 at the age of 48.
