Madam C.J. Walker was an extremely successful American entrepreneur in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s. She was the first female self made millionaire in America. She made her fortune by founding the Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company, which sold hair and beauty products for black women. She died May 25, 1919 from complications of hypertension at the age of 51.
