Simon Bolivar, whose actual name is Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Volivar y Palacios Ponte y Blanco, was a political and military leader in Venezuela. He played a very large role in Latin America’s fight for independence from the Spanish Empire. He died in 1814.
